Beer: Weisse Day Raspberry German Style Sour Ale

I couldn’t find the exact label, but today’s beer was Weisse Day Raspberry German Style Sour Ale from Bentonville Brewing Co. This is a light, tart, and refreshing beer. Let me tell you, if there was a beer I could drink a half gallon of in one sitting, this would be it.

This brew smelled like raspberry, tasted like raspberry, and tickled my tongue with the tartness. It reminded me of eating fresh raspberries with no sugar on them. I would love to have this beer on a hot summer day.

This is the first German style sour ale I’ve tried. As I was reading about it, I was glad to see that it’s related to Belgian style Lambic. It really reminded me of a lambic I had a long time ago. While this one isn’t a spontaneous yeast like lambic, it has much the same qualities.

This beer is 3.5% ABV and only 4 IBU; no bitterness at all.

From the brewery:

Popularized in Northern Germany, this light and refreshing ale features a low alcohol level with a distinctive acidity and mild tartness. With the addition of raspberry this beer is sure to please on those hot summer days and nights.
