TV Series: Queer Eye

Queer Eye - Where to Watch and Stream - TV Guide

I hadn’t watched this series since the original Fab 5. One of the things that frustrated me about it was they never helped any LGBTQ people. Thankfully, this series solved that because they helped several LGBTQ people, and I can’t say enough nice things about it.

One of the things I enjoyed most about this reboot is that it never failed to leave me with a smile on my face. All of the people were relatable. Each of the Fab 5 were relatable, too. Well, Jonathan VanNess is a little over the top, but he’s also such a sweetheart.

I really wish all LGBT youth could watch so they could see that LGBT folks are normal people. Not all of us have fashion sense. Not all of us are cool. In fact, a lot of us are just as clueless as anyone else. The overarching message in the series is to be proud of who you are no matter what. Nobody is going to take care of you better than you take care of yourself so it’s okay to spoil yourself.

The latest season takes place in Austin, Texas. I’m not going to lie that it made me feel pretty homesick. It was also fun to see all the places they went, and I knew where it was. I have so many dearly loved friends there. I’ve asked a few friends if they’ve watched the new season and they all knew about it.

There were times when I did get sad wishing they would come make me over. At the same time, it helped build my self-esteem because I could identify with every person they helped. I know there are little things I can do to look better, and I just need to get off my ass and do it.
