Beer: Organic Chocolate Stout

I recently tried Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout. This is a beer from the UK and is the oldest brewery in Yorkshire. I like stout beers just as much as I like porters. There’s something about dark beers that just makes them so yummy.

The chocolate was front and center for this beer. It’s not very bitter to me and it has a lot of good flavor notes. I tasted smoke, nuts, bread, and a hint of vanilla.

Stouts are porters. From what I read, stouts have higher ABV than porter. I’m not sure that always holds true because this brew is only 5% and I’ve definitely had stronger porters.

This is a nice and refreshing beer to enjoy in the evening.

From the brewery:

Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and organic cocoa impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish – this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate.
